Howdy boss,

I realize that you have an extremely difficult job to do but really?!? I can ignore OldSkeet because he's been around for quite a while but the new clown?!?

Please ban obvious trolls. The political drifting is tough enough with the regulars, but having to deal with new and obvious trolls is a bit much.

Thanks and wear the damn mask,

rono

No troll here but your post is a fitting example of the mindset opposing President Trump’s second term as POTUS - “all opinions welcome (as long as they fit our fear of President Trump; if not, you must be a troll)!”

LOL, y’all have created quite the echo chamber here and it is telling how emotional reactions to members such as Old Skeet are. I expect those reactions will get even more emotional as Election Day draws near.

It will be interesting to see what 4 more years brings as far as monikers; Tweety Amin and The Orange Abortion won’t be topped easily!

    And so it goes ....;-)

Thor who joined MFO at 9:19 PM tonight, made this his first post mocking someone complaining about trolls. Dummy account for the dummy Mines_Engineer I suspect. Given how Thor looks in the comics, I suspect he like Mines_Engineer has a secret love that dare not speak its name for “hard leftists” while pretending to hate them. Another Roy Cohn in the making.
  • I don't think anyone here minds the opposing point of view. It's when their claims are justified by nonsense and less than credible web sites that patience wears thin.
  • The accounts for Mines_Engineer and Thor have have both been placed in the moderation queue. Please continue to use the flag feature to let us know when something's up.
  • >> a secret love that dare not speak its name for “hard leftists” while pretending to hate them

not that there's anything etc etc

I love being secretly loved, even, or especially, by rightwingnuts
  • "Thor" my ass.
  • hey, hey, no preference

    not that there's etc

    Hi guys,

I was for closing down political comments a long time ago and not just recently. Some on the board kept making these types of post. Recently, from my oberveration, now that I have countered and begun to do the same by putting up political post links of my own ... Well, you socialist liberals seem to have an issue with that. Seems it is fair for you to express yourself but when others do it different rules for opposing views apply.

Does the board not want new posters?

For me, this indicates that the modern day dems are a buch of liberal socialist which many of you here seem to support. Old_Skeet is an old school Democrat (like many others) that has a different perspect from the modern day socialist dems agenda. And, there is probally enough of us out there to put Trump over the top with a return to the White House as we break from the party.

Again, Pelosi, Shiff, Shumer and Biden are big part of the swamp that, from my perspective, needs to go.

Now that I have made my point ... I'll back off. However, if political post continue I'm going to join in and continue with mine.

Sorry, that my post draw some new posters that are not to your liking.

    I am ... Old_Skeet

  • Howdy folks,

This issue is not whether of not the board wants new posters. I've been on this board and its ancestors for decades and we have always welcomed new posters that were interested in investing.

However, when someone just shows up and doesn't have any posts about investing or mutual funds and simply goes political. No fucking thanks. They are simply a troll and not a contributor to the board.

And as I stated above, I'll put up with your nonsense, OldSkeet, just like I put up with Ted's idiocy, BECAUSE you have been a contributor. I just ignore it. But someone new should be allowed to post pure politics and trolling because they support Trump. Are you shitting me?!?

Nopers, flag the trolls and if they don't actually contribute to the board, block them.

This is an investment discussion group that is in the middle of a political firestorm not a forum for peeps to talk about their dirty laundry.

    just my $0.02.

    and so it goes,

peace and wear the damn mask,

    rono

  • My 2 cents: regardless of political stripe, can we at least be polite and agree to confine partisan stuff into specific threads instead of littering ... or polluting ... the master index with new top-level posts about the latest niggling partisan soundbyte or nonsense making the rounds of the daily news cycle?

If you want to see or participate in a forum site that's full of partisan political threads, go to Reddit's political channels. Let's keep MFO useful and (mostly) relevant and civil.

  • @Old_Skeet
First, do you not find it odd; that within minutes of being accepted here for membership, that the first posts from Mines_Engineer and Thor have no reference to investing (as I noted early in this thread) and move directly to politics? Very obvious to me that there won't be an investment question or statement forthcoming.

I have no desire to participate in the highly biased political opinions expressed here. I have more than enough access to everything political.

    Regards,
    Catch

It's what cable news, facebook, twitter, and the google news feed, do with their flamebait. They want us hostage to their ecosystem 24 hours a day.

  • @WABAC Yes, and the media must be despondent right now because of the abbreviated campaign season. I stopped caring about national politics a while back. Both parties are only interested in fundraising and staying in power....both sides of the same greedy coin. Some of the fundraising tactics are funny. I get a daily text message from the Republican party yelling and chastising me because I missed their "deadline". Ever hear the old saying that "you catch more flies with honey"? And if they lose an election, they simply run for a different position. They remind me of football coaches...get fired from one team, get hired by another. Some even switch parties...so much for "deeply held beliefs".

I am more engaged in politics at the local, or even the micro, level. I find that city, and even HOA decisions, affect my life the most and the representatives are either unpaid or paid a token amount, so I trust their motivation to be a "public servant" much more. We currently have a great HOA board who let us know that if we want an amenity or service added, how much it will raise our HOA fees. This policy has greatly reduced the "I want" syndrome.

    Sorry for my cynicism.
  • The Zero Hedge website frequently quoted by OS and other trolls is an extremely questionable source run by a Bulgarian with ties to Russia. Read about it here:

  • I do not click on any posts by persons who persist in trolling. In my opinion, ignoring them more effective than trying to rebut them. Never argue with a fool.
