Any recc's for something along the lines of Templeton's Global Hard Currency fund?
Looking for something actively managed that invests in ultra-high quality short-term debt, that has the flexibility to guard against decline in the dollar. Global Hard Currency comes pretty close, but would prefer something no-load. Thanks.
MERKX and it's eastern sister MEAFX. I've played both of these but find the former seems to mirror PermPort PRPFX. Own some of the latter in wifey's Roth. They've also got a newer fund MABFX of which I am unfamiliar.
Merk Absolute Return is a long-short absolute return currency-driven fund, with a focus on return regardless of the direction of the dollar. It appeared to stumble for a while, but has turned around. Still, I tend to wonder if it can be nimble enough and two, it only includes developed nation currencies. I'd love for it to have included EM currencies. It is a somewhat interesting fund, but not something I'm planning on including.
I just put CCX on my watchlist; it's a WisdomTree ETF that invests in currencies of commodity-producing countries. Might be worth a look - I've been very happy with other forays into the W'Tree lineup.
