Seniors are ripe target. So many tragic / silly cases like the Times article.
I’ve gotten very good at hanging up on unknown callers and then blocking the number. The faster the better. If not sure it’s a scam I might invite them to mail me their proposition / concern before I hang up. Years ago we could “slam the receiver down” too. Doesn’t work too well in today’s digital era. A simple “click” will suffice.
I have my phone set to not even ring unless you're in my contacts. I figure if it's important they will leave a voicemail. So far (a few years), so good.
